Our company name Imari Togei comes from the beautiful landscape of the city of Imari, which is located right next to Arita, the birthplace of Japanese porcelain. It is home to Mt. Koshidake and Imari Bay, which was the epicenter of exporting Arita ware to Europe during the Edo period. Although our ancestors did not have the tools or facilities we have today to make products, thousands of tableware were made then to fulfill and enrich their lives.
With the economy growing, we’ve created many useful products to make our lives convenient, but this has left tradition behind, resulting in the decrease of traditional craftsmen and things that are genuine. We believe that keeping tradition alive is important, so we will continue to pass down our ancestor’s passion and hardship and keep making Arita ware that enrich our modern lives to live up to our name.
